Help Please , Ruger 10/22 feeding difficulties Empty Help Please , Ruger 10/22 feeding difficulties

Bought a brand new Ruger 10/22 about a week or so ago . Wanted to pimp it with scope , new tapco tactical stock and some hi cap mags . But wanted to test fire before making any alterations . Made it to the range today . Misfire after misfire almost every other shot . Factory 10 round mag , with winchester ammo . Empty casing were only extracted half the time , and half the time that they did extract it would not strip a fresh round to the chamber . It seems to be a very common rifle thats lots of folks have ,so I hope to get a lot of replies with any advice you can offer . (Thanks ahead of time if you have suggestions ) I only bought this rifle because of its supposed "Dependability" and all the available aftermarket products for it . Out of the box , I cannot say this rifle even compares with the marlin model 60 I bought my son last year . It has fired flawlessly well over a 1500 rounds . The only misfires I have experianced with this gun is after its had about 250 shots at a single visit , and thats nothing a good cleaning hasn't always fixed .

Bought a new 10/22 about a year ago, didn't have misfires but did have an enormous amount of failures to extract. Sent back to Ruger who replaced the extractor, still couldn't extract through a whole magazine. I bought an aftermarket, Volquartsen (sp) Exact Edge extractor for around $10, had someone put it in for me and now it runs perfectly.

By the way, unless they've changed it in the last few months, that receiver is painted and there is a list of cleaners that will strip the paint off. Mine was also refinished while back at Ruger. I can't recall the list at the moment but I'll try to dig it out tomorrow, you might want to call Ruger and ask them for the list as well.

These are the cleaners I was told not to use by Ruger:

    Birchwood Casey Gunscrubber
    Tetras Gun Active Blaster Degreaser
    Rusty Duck
