The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), founded in 1996, is an organization based in Berryville, Arkansas that promotes defensive pistol shooting as a sport, using equipment including full-charge service ammunition to solve simulated “real world’ self defense scenarios. Shooters competing in defensive pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are deemed suitable for self defense use.

IDPA Matches are based on tactical reality in self defense shooting scenarios. Each match is supervised by Safety Officers and Match Directors who ensure that safety is paramount and that each match is conducted appropriately within the subjective competition rules of the IDPA, which can be downloaded directly from our website — click here.

One of the unique facets of this sport is that it is geared toward the new or average shooter, and yet it is fun, challenging, and rewarding for the experienced shooter. The founders developed the sport so that practical gear and practical firearms may be used competitively. The main goal is to test the skill and ability of the individual, not equipment or gamesmanship.

Firearms are grouped into the following divisions:

    Custom Defensive Pistol — .45ACP semi-autos only.
Enhanced Service Pistol — 9mm (9×19) or larger caliber semi-autos.
    Stock Service Pistol — 9mm (9×19) or larger caliber double-action, or safe-action semi-autos.
Enhanced Service Revolver — .38 caliber or larger double-action revolvers.
Stock Service Revolver — .38 caliber or larger double-actions.
For more information regarding the IDPA or IDPA Matches, visit the official IDPA Website (www.IDPA.com).

Kettlefoot IDPA Matches are held the 4th Saturday of each month (from January to December), beginning at 9:00am. The cost is $15.00 USD for Club Members and $20.00 USD for non-members. You may shoot a second gun for an additional $5.
