    Ongoing work? Empty ongoing work

The two areas of constuction going on right now are the electronic gate near the site of the present gate and the area behind the clubhouse.
The area behind the cl;ubhouse will be the first expansion/updating of our shotgun facility in over 15 years. It will be a state of the art, self sevice, computer controlled range. It will provide an infinite number of target avenues for the shotgun sports.
This summer we hope to complete the upgrades and expansion of the centerfire range.
There is a 5 year plan for development of the mountain behind the clubhouse. This plan includes an indoor range , pro shop , campground, sporting clays and trap facility.
In the last 5 years we have seen many changes and improvements to our club. These include the warehouse, New pistol range, new rimfire range and expansion / improvement of our IDPA area.
Most of these improvements can be attrbuted to the hard work of our discipline heads.
They have worked tirelessly to grow their sports to the best anywhere.
IR5050 holds Regional matches having 120 or more shooters. IDPA will host the Virginia State match this year. We are looking at 200 participants. Our Trap program has grown to #2 in the State of Virginia. Archery in spite of working around the construction problems will draw 100 shooters to their major shoots. The monthly Trophy Shotgun shoots are now 30-40 shooters. Many of the other disciplines are expanding.
These are a few of the growth issues we are dealing with. In spite of the few naysayers Kettlefoot is prospering. The board's vision is that Kettlefoot will become the finest premier shooting facility anywhere.
Thanks to our members for the nice comments/compliments on what is going on.
Please tell our advisory / discipline chairmen that you appreciate their efforts. I know that without their hard work we could not function.

Wayne - Can you expand on this a bit?

I have trouble visualizing "an infinite number of target avenues for the shotgun sports"
in a place as compact as the area behind the clubhouse???

    Hey Ralph,
It's hard to put in print, but try to visualize 20 different traps and perhaps 15 windows to shoot that particular trap including zz birds and wobble targets.

I was one of those "naysayers" as Wayne put it, probably one of the first, concerning the dues increase. I'll eat crow (again) and say I'm proud to be a member, and I give my thanks to all involved in making this a great place to shoot. Great job, guys (and gals).

So Wayne - with all these scheduled improvements, I don’t reckon annual dues will be reduced anytime soon, eh?

That’s o.k. by me. I’m absolutely delighted with the electric gate project and the prospects of an improves/upgraded center fire range. The new rimfire/pistol ranges are great as well.

I’ve been a member from the time I transferred here in 1995 and you guys do a helluva job. Kettlefoot is a great facility and getting greater.

    Thanks for all you do.

    Uncle Harry,
You are only 3 years older than me. Only know you by your forum posts. Why not meet me at the clubhouse with Ontrack and others for an exchange of ideas session.
The members who are not heavily involved in a particular discipline sometimes have a hard time getting their problems and suggestions to me.
I am available most any Tues. evenings and most weekends.
Come on out and give my poor brain some more ideas.

Thanks for the invitation Wayne, but I'm sure I couldn't tell you anything that you and everyone else doesn't already know. I'm just a pistol shooter, trying to get better, and doing my best to shoot an IDPA match when I can. The railroad and my vacations have kept me away for the last 4 or 5 matches, but I'll be back. Somebody has to bring up the rear of the field, might as well be me. There's a possibility of me being able to supply some more railroad ties later on in the year, but it's too early to know for sure yet. I'll keep you posted, and again, thanks to all for everything that's being done.
